Lesson Intro: Identify and Sort Solids, Liquids, and Gases
Look around you right now—your chair, your water bottle, and even the air you’re breathing are all matter. Matter is anything that takes up space, and it comes in three main states: solids, liquids, and gases.
Today, we’ll learn how to identify and sort them by noticing how they act:
Solids keep their own shape (like a book, pencil, or rock).
Liquids can flow and take the shape of their container (like water, juice, or shampoo).
Gases spread out to fill any space and you usually can’t see them (like air, steam, or helium in a balloon).
By the end of this lesson, you’ll be able to look at everyday objects and confidently say: Is it a solid, liquid, or gas?
