Lesson Intro: Identify Multiplication Patterns in Tables
Have you ever looked at a multiplication table and noticed it has “hidden designs”? Multiplication tables aren’t just random numbers—they follow patterns that repeat and help us multiply faster and understand math better.
Today, we will learn how to identify multiplication patterns in tables, such as:
Numbers increasing by the same amount across a row or column
Patterns in the 2s, 5s, and 10s (easy skip-counting!)
How even and odd products show up in a table
Why some diagonals have special meaning (like squares: 1×1, 2×2, 3×3…)
By the end of this lesson, you’ll be able to look at any multiplication table and explain the patterns you see—just like a math detective!
