Relationship between place values

Place value tells us the value of each digit based on its position in a number.

Example:
In 345

• 3 is in the hundreds place = 300

• 4 is in the tens place = 40

• 5 is in the ones place = 5

🔗 Relationship Between Place Values

Each place value is 10 times bigger than the place to its right 👉

• Ones → Tens → Hundreds → Thousands

💡 This means:

• 10 ones = 1 ten

• 10 tens = 1 hundred

• 10 hundreds = 1 thousand
