Lesson Intro: To multiply three numbers, you can multiply two at a time.
The order doesn’t change the answer (because multiplication is associative).
Steps
Multiply the first two numbers.
Multiply that product by the third number.
Example
3×4×53 \times 4 \times 53×4×5
= (3×4)×5(3 \times 4) \times 5(3×4)×5
= 12×512 \times 512×5
= 60
Tip (make it easier)
Look for pairs that make 10, 100, or other easy numbers.
Example: 2×5×72 \times 5 \times 72×5×7
= (2×5)×7(2 \times 5) \times 7(2×5)×7
= 10×710 \times 710×7
= 70
