Doing the right thing isn’t always easy but God helps us choose better.
Key idea: Faith is not just what we believe—it’s what we do when it costs something.
Daniel in the Lion’s Den
Daniel was a man who worked in the government. He wasn’t just smart he was also honest, kind, and consistent. Because of that, the king trusted him a lot. In fact, Daniel did such a good job that the king planned to put him in charge over many others.
The Problem: People Got Jealous
Some of the other leaders saw Daniel getting promoted, and they felt jealous. They didn’t like that Daniel was respected. So they tried to find something bad about him some mistake, some lie, some rule he broke anything they could use to get him in trouble.
What risk did Daniel take?
What was the “right choice” for him?
When do you feel pressure to change who you are?
On a scale of 1–10, how hard is it to do the right thing when your friends or feelings push the other way?
Quick Scripture
Daniel 6:10 (idea): Daniel prayed regularly even when it was dangerous.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 (idea): “Pray without ceasing” = keep a connection with God all day, not just at church.
Explain simply:
Prayer is like staying plugged in.
When we’re connected, we make better choices and feel calmer.
Activity: “Pressure + Choice Map”
Have them draw a simple chart (paper or notebook):
Left side: PRESSURE
Friends
Anger
Laziness
Fear
Wanting to fit in
Right side: GOOD CHOICE
Tell the truth
Be kind
Walk away
Apologize
Do the right thing quietly
Prompt: Pick 2 pressures you feel sometimes. Write 1 good choice you can do for each.
Example:
Pressure: “I’m mad.” → Good choice: “Pause, breathe, speak calmly.”
Pressure: “Friends want me to join.” → Good choice: “Say no respectfully.”
